Pedestrian injured critically after hit-and-run in the NE Las Vegas valley
On Monday night, a pedestrian was left with severe injuries after being struck by a driver in a northwest valley hit-and-run. According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the collision occurred at 9:56 p.m. on North Rancho Drive, south of West Craig Road. Police found that a 2014 Hyundai Sonata was going south while the pedestrian was walking on the east side of the road and attempted to cross to the west side, outside a marked crosswalk. The pedestrian entered the path of the approaching car and was hit. After the collision, the Hyundai driver drove off. He later returned to the crash location and was arrested for hit-and-run-related charges. Medical personnel transported the pedestrian to the University Medical Center’s Trauma Unit in critical condition, where he was admitted. Police reported that driver impairment was not a factor in the crash. The incident is still being investigated by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section.
