Gravel Spill Causes Mutli-Vehicle Crash On I-80 Between Lovelock And Vista Blvd.
Two separate incidents were the cause of a multi-vehicle accident that closed the westbound I-80 between Lovelock and Vista Blvds.This all started at 12:39 p.m. with a gravel spill caused by a Dump Truck that has improperly secured its load of gravel that than spilled over the roadway causing traffic to be stopped along the route. A few minutes later, at 12:45 p.m. a second accident call was reported to Nevada State Police regarding a multi-vehicle crash in the same area.
Evidence shows that after the dump truck spilled gravel between Lockwood and Vista. A separate dump truck was approaching the already slowed traffic and was unable to stop, resulting in a collision with a Subaru. The Subaru was pushed into a Ford F450 Pickup truck, then hit a commercial truck.
Two individuals were treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the first dump truck was given a citation for improperly securing their load, while the driver of the second dump truck was cited for causing a multi-vehicle crash. Impairment was not a factor in this crash.
