Elderly woman in critical condition after crash on Carl Street in Las Vegas
An 87-year-old woman sustained life-threatening injuries in a crash in the northwest valley on Sunday afternoon, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. At 11:24 a.m., the crash occurred between a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado and a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer at the intersection of N. Jones Boulevard and W. Carl Street.
The woman was driving the Silverado westbound on W. Carl Street and had stopped at the posted stop sign before entering the intersection. At the same time, the Trailblazer, driven by a 35-year-old man with a 23-year-old male passenger, was traveling southbound on N. Jones Boulevard and entered the intersection at W. Carl Street. The front of the Trailblazer collided with the passenger side of the Silverado, resulting in the crash.
Medical personnel transported the 87-year-old woman to UMC Trauma, where she remains in critical condition. The driver of the Trailblazer was taken to Valley Hospital with minor injuries. Neither driver is suspected of impairment, according to police.
